We are getting several inquires about the puppies so lets hope for a healthy litter and introduce another bunch of puppies to good homes!
This past weekend we have decided that Wrigley is indeed pregnant. Her nipples are becoming enlarged and she is thicker through the waist area. We are very excited. She is taking her prenatal vitamins and eating like a horse. Wrigley is due on Feb 9th from my calculations. She should start putting on the weight now.

We calculate that Wrigley is due on Feb. 9th, 2011 if she is in fact pregnant. In the next few weeks we should be able to tell if she carrying a litter. Currently she is showing a little more emotions than normal. She acts like she is starved all the time and is using the bathroom more frequently. So does this mean she is pregnant or am I just reading into it too much. At this time I think I am just getting a little too excited and reading into things.
I hope to be able to see some physical signs in the next few weeks so that I can confirm m I have had several request for puppies from Wrigley's Spring litter of Vizsla Puppies. People are all different. Some start puppy shopping only when they are ready to buy. Others start shopping a year or so out and plan their addition to the family. As the request come we keep them on a list in the order they are received. Then when the puppies get here we go through the list. If you are looking for a Vizsla puppy and are interested in our Spring litter, you need to get on the list! Please contact us and we will be happy to add you. Then you will get updates on Wrigley and the puppies once they are here.
Wrigley went into heat cycle about 3 weeks early. So this past weekend we met with the stud that we use, Red from Lone Eagle Vizslas. We were successful and hope to have puppies in Feb 2010. I was really hoping for a March litter to maybe have warm weather for when the puppies were ready for outdoor activity. But it looks like we will still be in the dead of winter.
We are all ready for a break from work and some good family time. Wrigley is just ready to find any food that might find it's way off the counter. We are getting a lot of inquiries for Christmas puppies. We do not have any Christmas litters available this year and really try to stay away from that time of year for many reasons. I do have 6-7 people on our list for the Spring litter. I am still taking request. Many times when the litter gets here others have already added a puppy to their family.
HAPPY THANKSGIVING. I have some wonderful pictures of Wrigley from this fall. I need to get them So this weekend Wrigley was acting very strange. She built a nest out of the couch pillows and put her toys in the middle of the pile. She then proceeded to lay with her toys as if they were nursing. I checked the calendar for her last heat cycle and realized that if she would have been bred last heat cycle we would be having puppies. That is when I realized that Wrigley was going through false labor.
We spent most of the weekend paying an extreme amount of attention to her and treating her "babies," stuffed toys, with care. She seems to do better today. I am happy to know how much she enjoys being a mom since we will be breeding her again. So for now we are going to take care of her and let her play mom until she moves on. It has been an extremely hot summer. Even though Vizslas are short-haired dogs, does not mean that they can tolerate the heat well. I have noticed that Wrigley has been going through quite a lot of water. Please, Please, Please make sure that all animals have plenty of water during these hot days!
I really meant to give updates more frequently through the blog, but have not seem to keep up with it as well.
The puppies are doing great. Each of them have their own personality and love all the attention they can get. They will get their first booster shot this weekend and are learning to eat dry food. So far we have 3 of the puppies sold and 4 left. We have been really lucky to find great homes and great owners for these puppies! We are so excited to meet the gang! They started arriving Sunday around 5:30pm. They were all very healthy. Wrigley did a great job and did not tire until the very end. Everybody is healthy and happy. We are scheduled to remove dewclaws and dock tails Thursday.
Wrigley is really feeling miserable these days. She is due next week and very tight in the belly. She is sleeping a lot more and avoiding the snowy weather as much as possible. We have her whelping box setup and ready to go for puppies to arrive.
